• 西湖周辺を慌てて回る必要は全くありません。杭州観光で最も頭を悩ませるのは、西湖周辺の交通渋滞です。今回、私は{酒店名称}に宿泊予約をし、チェックインしてから初めて実感しました。立地を選んだおかげで、移動時間を無駄にすることなく、西湖のあまり知られていないスポットをゆっくりと散策できるのです

  まず、最も安心できる点、交通アクセスについてお話ししましょう。このホテルは、西湖中心部にあるホテルの中でも、無駄な遠回りをせずに済む数少ないホテルのひとつです。地下鉄1号線定安路駅C出口から徒歩わずか800メートル。プラタナスの木々の下をスーツケースを引きずりながら歩けば、景勝地特有のでこぼこの石畳の道を歩く必要もありません。高速鉄道の利用も安心です。杭州東駅から地下鉄に直通で乗車でき、乗り換えなしでわずか40分で到着します。早朝の高速鉄道に乗る場合でも、2時間も前に慌てて出発する必要はありません。何より素晴らしいのは、主要な観光スポットがすべて徒歩圏内にあることです。西湖の岸辺までは直線距離で50メートル以内。道路を渡ったり、陸橋を迂回したりする必要もありません。ホテルの脇のドアからほんの数歩歩けば、劉浪文営エリアに到着。通りの向かい側に宿泊する人よりも少なくとも30分早く、西湖に立ち込める朝霧を眺めることができます。
  周辺のグルメやショッピングスポットも徒歩圏内にあり、本格的な杭州の味を堪能できます。ホテルの入り口からわずか300メートル先には、数十年の歴史を誇る名店「知味館」の本店があります。朝6時半に起きて、のんびりと散歩しながら行けば、観光客のように1～2時間も行列に並ぶことなく、できたての猫耳麺や条頭糕（餅の一種）を味わうことができます。東へ徒歩10分ほど行くと、南宋御街と河坊街の入り口に到着します。杭州の古都を散策したり、ネギパンケーキや鼎生糕（餅の一種）を味わったりしたいなら、タクシーに乗ったり混雑した観光地を通り抜けたりすることなく、気軽に訪れることができます。
  人混みを避けたい方には、湖沿いを南へ20分ほど歩くと、長橋公園にドローン撮影スポットがあります。人混みを気にせず、雷峰塔に沈む夕日を撮影できます。北へ25分ほど歩くと、湖畔の歩行者天国にある音楽噴水にたどり着きます。噴水ショーを楽しんだ後は、ホテルまで歩いて戻り、途中で杭州名物の蓮根澱粉を一杯飲むのもおすすめです。見落としがちな杭州の伝統的な朝食店も、ホテルから徒歩10分圏内にあり、わざわざ遠くまで探しに行かなくても、本場の味を堪能できます。
  このホテルの最大の魅力は、賑やかな街の中にありながら、完璧なまでに静寂に包まれていることです。一日中観光を楽しんだ後、混雑した西湖からクスノキが並ぶ中庭を通ってホテルに戻ると、外の喧騒がたちまち消え去ります。夕方には、湖畔を30分ほど散歩すれば、近隣の高齢者たちがヤシの葉の扇子を手にゆったりと散策している姿を目にすることができます。郊外のチェーンホテルでは決して味わえない、リラックスしたのんびりとした雰囲気です。

• 窓の外には、西湖にかかる朝霧が広がっています

  杭州に来る前は、西湖周辺のホテルといえば、人でごった返しているか、湖のすぐそばにあるかのどちらかだろうと思っていました。しかし、Grand Hotel Hangzhouに宿泊してみて、賑やかな街にひっそりと佇むこの築100年のホテルが、西湖の最も静謐な景色を客室の窓から直接楽しめることを知りました。
  地下鉄1号線定安路駅からプラタナスの木々を通り過ぎ、800メートルほど歩くとホテルの入り口に着きます。派手な看板はなく、クスノキが植えられた中庭を抜けると、湖畔に広がる芝生が目に飛び込んできます。コンシェルジュは笑顔で私のスーツケースを預かり、「夕方は湖畔が冷え込むので、ジャケットをお忘れなく」と声をかけてくれました。観光客向けのホテルによくある慌ただしい雰囲気は全く感じられません。チェックインの際、フロントのスタッフは親切にも3階の湖側の部屋を用意してくれました。「この高さなら、木々の梢を見下ろし、西湖にかかる朝霧を眺めるのに最適です」とのことでした。ドアを押し開けた瞬間、私は息を呑んだ。床から天井まで続く大きな窓からは西湖が一望でき、蘇堤の柳が水面に垂れ下がり、遠くの雲間からは宝楚塔が顔を覗かせていた。湖面を滑るように進む小舟さえもはっきりと見えた。部屋は穏やかでモダンな中国風の装飾が施されていた。ソファの肘掛けには古風な杭州錦織のクッションがかけられ、机の横の盆には温められた龍井茶が置かれていた。外から漂ってくる蓮の葉の香りと混じり合ったお茶の香りは、喧騒の都会から逃れてきた私の焦燥感を瞬時に払拭してくれた。一番の驚きはバルコニーだった。小さな椅子を引き寄せて腰を下ろすと、湖から吹くそよ風が髪を濡らした。西湖沿いの人混みに紛れてカメラの撮影スポットを探す必要はもうない。
  翌日、私はわざわざ午前6時に目覚ましをセットしました。バルコニーのドアを開けた瞬間、息を呑みました。朝霧が薄いベールのように湖面を覆い、遠くの山々や木々は乳白色の霧に包まれ、湖畔の柳だけが柔らかな緑の芽を覗かせていました。普段は賑やかな西湖も静まり返り、水鳥のさえずりだけが水面をかすめていました。ホテルが用意してくれた温かい豆乳を手に、私はバルコニーに30分間立ち尽くしました。西湖の朝霧に包まれるこの安らぎは、蘇堤の喧騒の中では決して味わえないものでした。
  ホテルの庭は西湖の湖畔に直接つながっており、道路を渡ることなく湖まで歩いて行くことができます。夕方には、湖畔沿いを10分ほど歩くと、「柳の波と鴉の鳴き声」と呼ばれる石畳の小道にたどり着きます。入場料は無料です。その夜は、ホテルの湖畔レストランで杭州料理をいただきました。西湖酢魚はほどよい酸味と新鮮さが絶妙で、龍井エビに使われている茶葉はまさにその日に摘まれたばかりのものでした。見上げると、湖面にライトアップされた遊覧船が連なり、夜景を彩っていました。流行のレストランで列に並ぶよりも、ずっと心地よいひとときでした。
  以前、杭州に来るといつも観光地を駆け足で巡り、蘇堤や白堤を一つずつチェックしていました。しかし、今回Grand Hotel Hangzhouに滞在して、西湖の真の魅力は混雑した観光地ではなく、むしろゆったりとした日常の中にあることに気づきました。慌ただしい日常から解放され、窓を開けて朝霧を感じ、ほんの数歩先に広がる湖の静寂を感じられるのです。街の中心部に佇むこの築100年のホテルは、西湖の穏やかな一面を、訪れるすべての人に完璧に伝えてくれます。次に杭州に来るときは、必ずまたここに泊まります。すべて表示
